Hello, my name is Mario Hébert and I currently hold the position of Director of Engineering at nValeo in Austin, Texas. I received my bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.
I am a Software Engineer with 15 years of experience working for companies whose products use embedded micro-controllers or personal computers. I have developed embedded software for military applications, telephony, networking and consumer electronics products. I have also developed web based front-end and back-end applications. My programming experience has been mostly in C and Assembler, but I also have a strong background and have written in C++, C#, Visual Basic, Perl, PHP, Python, Javascript, Java and a few other scripting languages.
My embedded experience includes PowerPc, MIPS, Motorola as well as Intel micro controllers. I’ve worked on projects using TCP/IP, SONET, SS7 and Profibus protocols. I am also experienced with networking protocols such as SCTP and SIP. I also have a strong background writing device drivers for a variety of devices communicating with I2C, SPI, PCI and discrete bits.
In the last few years I have developed an interest in video streaming. I am interested in all aspects of this industry including CDN integration, cost projection, security, user-agent support, video formats, encoding, streaming capacity, etc.
I am a skilled problem solver and I have a solid background in hardware design, as well as reading and drawing schematics. Writing diagnostic routines and bringing up prototypes is one of my strong areas. I’m a quick learner and I’m not afraid to utilize new tools and technologies.
